Scholarships for Filipino Students

Filipino community highly values education.  A majority of Filipinos work in the healthcare industry with nursing being one of the top professions of choice.  To support bright and needy Filipino students, several organizations have schoalrships for filipionos.  Below is a discussion of the few of them:

Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund

Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund offers five scholarships in the amoutn of $5,000 each for Filipino American students pursuing engineering careers to attend four-year colleges or universities and are California residents. They also offer scholarships for SAT preparation courses and college admissions counseling.

Filipino Bar Association of Northern California Legal Scholarship

Filipino Bar Association of Northern California Legal Scholarship is for law students interested in serving the Filipino American community. One to three scholarships each year of $1,000 to $2,500.

Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship

Helen and L.S. Wong Memorial Scholarship is for Fairfield and Suisun high school seniors of Asian heritage. 

Human Capital Scholarship

Human Capital Scholarship is for first-generation college students from underrepresented groups attending the University of California.

Lapiz Family Scholarship

Lapiz Family Scholarship is for students who are farm workers or children of farm or migrant workers, attending the University of California.

Maria Elena Yuchengco Memorial Journalism Scholarship

Maria Elena Yuchengco Memorial Journalism Scholarship is for Filipino American students pursuing journalism at any U.S. college or university.

Shui Kuen and Allen Chin Scholarship

Shui Kuen and Allen Chin Scholarship is for current full-time undergraduate or graduate students who have worked or are working at an Asian restaurant (Asian-owned or Asian cuisine), or have at least one parent who has worked or is working at one.

Tina Yeh Memorial Fund

Tina Yeh Memorial Fund is for summer internships to support a Yale undergraduate student working at a non-profit organization serving an Asian community in the U.S.

Filipino Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii Scholarship

The Foundation has Scholarship Golf Tournament to rise funds for scholarships to graduating Hawaii high school seniors, and the presentation of educational seminars and workshops.

Filipino American Human Services, Inc Scholarship

The FAHSI College Scholarship Program also entitled as the Frederick and Demi Seguritan Scholarship each recipient will receive a renewable $5,000 award per academic year for a maximum award of $20,000 over four years. The Frederick and Demi Seguritan Scholarship of $5,000 is awarded to one Filipino/Filipino American graduating high school senior who demonstrates a passion for business and service to the Filipino community.
