Parents are often concerned about their college student child's expenses.  The biggest concern is that overspending by their child can cause additional financial burden on the family and if their child has a credit card, it can ruin his/her credit, if they fail to pay on time.  One of the ways to control their child's expenses is to get them a prepaid debit card. A prepaid debit card allows parents to transfer money into the card on monthly basis and their child can either withdraw or use it like a credit card without incurring any debt.  Parents can monitor the amount of money which is being spent on daily basis.    The only thing parents need to be careful about is that their child doesn't make too many transactions exceeding the limit set by the card issuer.  This can incur some significant transaction fees.  Otherwise, this is a very good solution.
