If you are reading this post then you are probably a student who is interested in getting an athletic scholarships and you probably have already read How to Apply for an Athletic Scholarship. Below are some tips on contacting a college coach:
1. College Coaches are interested in 2 things, your grades and your athletic performance and you need to figure out how best to present this information.
2. You should reach out to a college coach in your junior year. Based on the assessment provided by your high school coach, you shall provide the level you can play at.
3. Provide them a copy of your transcript.
4. If you have been covered by the local media, then you should also make links and newspaper clipping available to them.
5. Send them a DVD of your performance in few of the games you have played.
6. If you have a personal website or blog which discusses your performance you should share that with the coach too.
7. Offer them recommendations from your high school coach and other individuals in the sports industry.
8. If your high school alumni or a former teammate is in that college already you should see if they could be a reference for you.
9. When you write a letter to the coach always address them as Mr. or Ms. to show your respect.
10. If you also participate in other school related activities, volunteer or have a job, make sure to mention that in your letter along with your GPA and Athletic accomplishments.
